Home About Portfolio Contact Links Darla Luke is a proud native of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and received formal art training at Christopher Newport University in Virginia. Darla (Spencer) Luke joined the staff of the Virginia Nature and Science Center, now The Virginia Living Museum as a graphic and exhibit artist, under the CETA program funding emerging artist. In 1980 she was employed by The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation where she worked in conjunction with artist Roy Woodall. Her work for the foundation includes period paintings, murals and dioramas throughout Colonial Williamsburg. In 1982, Darla accepted employment with John J. McMullen & Assoc., a marine design firm, where she met Joe Luke. Darla and Joe were married in 1989 and began traveling the United States in conjunction with his work as and aircraft structural designer. Darla moved to the Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore, Md. in 2003. Her works include oil paintings, both abstract and conceptual, watercolor and pen and ink. She currently does commissioned portraits and large scale murals for clients in the Baltimore area, as well as exhibits her paintings locally. Her paintings are owned by private collectors throughout the United States. Darla Luke has exhibited and sold her paintings in St. Louis, Mo., Seattle, Wa., Savannah, Ga., and Wichita, Ks. Darla Luke's work is currently shown in Baltimore at Gallery ID8, The Gallery of Fells Point, and she is also a member of The Creative Alliance, in Highlandtown.
